Sustainability
What exactly is sustainability? Sustainability is the ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level, avoiding depletion of natural resources to maintain an ecological balance – better for the planet, for people and the long-term health of the global economy.
Fiskars Group take sustainability very seriously and as part of the Fiskars family, so do we at Royal Doulton. On this page you can find product, packaging and materials insights, along with an overview of our ongoing efforts towards sustainability…
Royal Doulton Design
At Royal Doulton, we are working to improve materials and packaging through defined initiatives, supported by ongoing product development reviews. Designed in England with thought and care, each piece is a pleasure to use and will be part of your family for years to come.
How can we create a more sustainable home? Royal Doulton plates, bowls, mugs and other casual tableware pieces are made from porcelain or stoneware, along with glass, wood and metal accessories. We aim to create products designed for long-term use, alongside initiatives to improve materials and reduce packaging impacts.
Packaging
Many elements of our packaging are considered – from the material, using vegetable inks to print with and coming up with additional ways of how it can be re-used afterwards. Sleeves are made from responsibly sourced paper certified by the FSC and designed to be removed so that the box can be used multiple times for storage, posting gifts or whatever you like.
Fiskars Group & Sustainability
As part of Fiskars Group, Royal Doulton's sustainability efforts are guided by two long-term commitments: pioneering design against throwaway culture and making the everyday extraordinary.
Through pioneering design against throwaway culture, Fiskars Group works to address the environmental impact of its products and operations by developing circular solutions and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Making the everyday extraordinary means creating positive experiences for people and communities, fostering an inclusive culture, respecting human rights, and maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.
Climate action is guided by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated emissions reduction targets covering our operations, value chain and supplier engagement. Fiskars Group has also committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2049.
