Sustainability

What exactly is sustainability? Sustainability is the ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level, avoiding depletion of natural resources to maintain an ecological balance – better for the planet, for people and the long-term health of the global economy.

Fiskars Group take sustainability very seriously and as part of the Fiskars family, so do we at Royal Doulton. On this page you can find product, packaging and materials insights, along with an overview of our ongoing efforts towards sustainability…

Royal Doulton & Sustainability

At Royal Doulton we believe in sustainability when it comes to both our products and their packaging, and it’s considered at every stage. Designed in England with thought and care, each piece is a pleasure to use and will be part of your family for years to come.

How can we create a more sustainable home? Royal Doulton plates, bowls, mugs and other casual tableware pieces are made from porcelain or stoneware, along with glass, wood and metal accessories. All our products are sustainable and made to last – none of that ‘throw away culture’ and ‘single use’ rubbish here! From sustainable coffee cups such as the Coffee Studio Travel Mug to our Pacific Mint Tapas Bowls, designed for small side dishes or zero-waste leftovers.

Sustainable Packaging

Every aspect of our packaging is considered – from the material, using vegetable inks to print with and coming up with additional ways of how it can be re-used afterwards. Did you know that our product packaging contains a mixture of recycled materials and is fully recyclable? Sleeves are made from responsibly sourced paper certified by the FSC and designed to be removed so that the box can be used multiple times for storage, posting gifts or whatever you like. Some of our ceramics even end up being used to resurface roads!

Fiskars Group & Sustainability

Constantly exploring ways of creating meaningful and sustainable products and services, Fiskars Group continues to embed sustainability deeply into the strategy – from cooking and dining, gardening and the outdoors, to celebrations and festivities. All of this aims to offer options to help you live more sustainably.

Fiskars brands are present in every area of people’s everyday lives – giving us an opportunity to make the everyday extraordinary today, and for future generations too. The Fiskars Group’s vision is to create a positive, lasting impact on quality of life.

The three main Fiskars Group sustainability commitments are to be a carbon-neutral business, offer circular products and services, and to have a positive impact. You can read about all things-sustainability in more depth in the 2022 Sustainability Report.

For 2022, Fiskars Group set a target to reduce waste to landfill from manufacturing by 80%, compared to the base year 2017. The Fiskars target for 2030 is that all waste from our own operations is recovered or recycled – sending nothing to landfill.

We’re honest, open and transparent. As a global company, we try our best and aren’t always perfect, but are continuously researching, testing, learning and sharing our findings about the latest opportunities when it comes to being sustainable.
