"The Olio collection is reminiscent of timeless found objects that have their roots in the manmade."
Internationally acclaimed designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby founded their London-based studio in 1996. Their diverse body of work spans industrial design, furniture, lighting and site specific installations as well as limited edition pieces and public commissions such as the London 2012 Olympic Torch and a £2 coin designed for the Royal Mint.
Their work is held in permanent museum collections around the world including V&A and Design Museum in London, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and Art Institute of Chicago.
In 2001 Barber and Osgerby established architecture and interior design practice Universal Design Studio and in 2012 they founded MAP, specializing in research and strategy-led design.
They bring a deep understanding and respect for British craft to their work with Royal Doulton, and wealth of experience. Their multidisciplinary portfolio, spanning furniture, architecture and industrial design, echoes Royal Doulton’s vision to create collections combining both intelligence and function, making it the perfect partnership.
Dik Delaney, Design Director at Royal Doulton spoke of the partnership:
“Working with Barber Osgerby has been an absolute pleasure. From small sugar bowls to large serving platters, the designers’ precision and attention to detail is outstanding.”
Barber & Osgerby win the Panerai London Design Medal
Every year an illustrious selection committee comprising established designers, industry commentators and previous winners sit down and debate possible recipients of The British Land Celebration of Design Awards across four categories. The eventual winners are chosen from a wide range of design disciplines and awarded for their exceptional contribution to their field.
Awarded by the London Design Festival every year, the Panerai London Design Medal is the highest accolade bestowed upon an individual who has distinguished themselves within the industry and demonstrated consistent design excellence over a number of years.
