Bunnykins by Royal Doulton
Bunnykins
Merry Christmas
The first Bunnykins designs were drawn by Sister Mary Barbara. The daughter of Royal Doulton's General Manager, Barbara Vernon Bailey showed artistic ability from a young age. Her father's original bedtime stories about foxes and rabbits inspired a series of drawings, and many books were filled with sketches of other animals and countryside scenes.

75 Years Old and Still Going Strong....In 2009, Bunnykins Nurseryware celebrated its 75th Anniversary and continues to be one of the world's oldest, most beloved and best-selling ranges of children?s dinnerware.
The story of Bunnykins began in 1934 with a young nun in an English convent school, Sister Mary Barbara (Barbara Vernon), who imagined and illustrated the exploits of the Bunnykins family to entertain the children in her class. Her father, Cuthbert Bailey, who happened to be the manager of Royal Doulton's Burslem pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, recognized the potential of combining her drawings with children's plates, bowls and mugs, resulting in the birth of Bunnykins Nurseryware! Sister Mary Barbara's commitments at the convent only allowed her to produce Bunnykins drawings for a few years. Luckily Walter Hayward, one of Royal Doulton's Art Directors, took over creating Bunnykins drawings after World War II.
Today, in addition to Nurseryware, the Bunnykins range of products contains wonderful baby gifts
and nursery accessories -- making it one of the most popular collections among children, parents and grandparents around the world. Part of the fun in giving or receiving a Bunnykins gift is the wonderment surrounding which design you?ll receive -- as Royal Doulton continually rotates the artwork used to decorate the Classic Nurseryware productss in an effort to provide an ongoing tribute to Sister Mary Barbara's originality and creativity.
