Founded as the Doulton Company in 1815, Royal Doulton is one of the world's foremost brands for collectibles, figurines and fine gifts. From iconic collections like Royal Doulton Pretty Ladies, to one-of-a-kind luxury collections like Burslem Artwares, Royal Doulton offers a tremendous variety of exciting products for today's figurine collectors. Royal Doulton's continued commitment to excellent quality and distinctiveness of design -- often drawing on decades artistic heritage -- is the reason Royal Doulton continues to satisfy its most loyal collectors and attract new collectors everyday.
A Tribute to Classic Style and Beauty...Since their inception in 1913, Royal Doulton Pretty Ladies have been one of Royal Doulton's most popular ranges of collectable figures. In fact, Pretty Ladies represent one of the largest sub-collections within Royal Doulton's HN Series of Figurines. (The "HN" refers to Harry Nixon, a painting supervisor, who in 1913 realized numbering figures would enable Royal Doulton and collectors to identify specific figures.) The HN numbering system is still used today, with more than 5,000 "HN" numbers being issued since 1913.
Often characterized by the toe peeping out from a swirling dress, the appeal of Pretty Ladies is rooted in romantic names, beautiful faces and elegant gowns. Collectors are attracted to the rich, layered colors and brush strokes. Some of the most popular Pretty Ladies include the Figure of the Year and the annual Christmas Day figurine. In recent years, elements such as metallic accents, jewelry, nail polish and sculpted flowers have been added to Pretty Ladies, as well as Petites and Miniature Ladies -- smaller reproductions of some of the company's best selling figurines.
